On the material of the cromlech-crepidoma stone blocks of the Novooleksandrivka kurgan

Purpose. Determination of the rocks used for building 4th millennium BCE megalithic construction in Novooleksandrivka (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine) as well establishing places their probable provenance. Methodology. The study was performed using method comparative mineralogical and petrographic analysis thin sections stone from outcrops valleys rivers Mokra Sura Dnipro. chemical composition petrographically identical also compared X-ray fluorescence analysis. Findings. Nine specimens that represent all species granitoids cromlech-crepidoma kurgan Sura-Oba were analyzed. As a result conducted research, it ascertained they are represented by plagiogranites (trondhjemites), tonalites, granite gneisses, migmatites pegmatites. Besides, some comprise small xenoliths biotite gneiss. All indicated characteristic occurrences Surskyi Dnipropetrovskyi plagiogranitoid complexes, widespread valley river Morka right tributary Dnipro, where monument is directly located. Granitoids with massive structure most likely to be delivered located upstream village Sursko-Lytovske. Migmatites gneiss-like granites occur both downstream Novooleksandrivka. Originality. For first time, construction, discovered during excavations has been studied analysis; addition, its extraction determined. Practical value. results obtained can conducting research on history archaeology, popular science works excursion activities.
